My daughter is allergic to tree nuts. Recently, while dining out at a local restaurant, she ordered a cheese ravioli dish that was garnished with pink peppercorns. After the first bite, she immediately became very sick with symptoms of an allergic reaction. At the time we could not understand what she was reacting to, since it was a simple dish, and the chef confirmed there were no nut ingredients in the dish.
I have subsequently learned that Pink Peppercorns (also referred to as pink pepperberries, pink berries, Brazilian Pepper, Rose Pepper, Christmasberry, or Peruvian pepper) are related to CASHEWS and can cause an anaphylactic reaction in those who are allergic to CASHEWS/TREE NUTS.
Please share this information to anyone you know who has cashew allergies!
